MARLIN – MARine molecular tools LINking education and research in a trans-Atlantic partnership
Marine ecosystems are among the most vulnerable on our planet and comprehensive assessment and conservation of biodiversity is one of the crucial tasks in management of marine resources. Molecular tools are proven to be cost effective and precise, they develop rapidly complementing and, sometimes, replacing traditional species identification methods.
In MARLIN, we aim to develop a network of Norwegian (UiB, NTNU, UiT), Brazilian (UFRJ, UFPR, USP, BrBio), and South African (SU, SANBI) partner institutions and academics leading in education and research in marine biodiversity with a focus on molecular methods.
MARLIN organises intensive courses on molecular methods in marine biodiversity research and supports trilateral students and academic staff mobility. It also links academic environments in the three partner countries with non academic sector.
MARLIN is funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (Hk-dir) via UTFORSK program.
Project period: 2025 – 2028
